Tagine Talk
Welcome to Tagine Talk, your unique gateway to the rich flavors and vibrant culture of Morocco. Founded by Hajar, a passionate cook and native Moroccan, Tagine Talk offers a distinctive experience that blends language learning with culinary exploration. Our mission is to share Morocco’s beautiful traditions through food and language, helping people from all over the world connect with its culture in an interactive and enjoyable way.
Meet Hajar
Hajar, the heart and soul behind Tagine Talk, grew up in Morocco surrounded by the aromas and flavors of traditional Moroccan cuisine. From an early age, she was captivated by the way food brought people together, and she began learning to cook beloved dishes like tajine and couscous in her family’s kitchen. Today, Hajar channels this lifelong passion into teaching others how to prepare these flavorful meals while introducing them to the basics of Moroccan Arabic (Darija). Her goal is to bring the warmth of Moroccan hospitality into homes everywhere, one delicious dish at a time.
What We Do
At Tagine Talk, we believe that learning is most effective when it’s immersive and fun. That’s why we offer a unique combination of cooking classes and language lessons. Through our interactive sessions, you’ll not only learn how to prepare iconic Moroccan dishes like tajine, couscous, and briouats, but you’ll also pick up essential Moroccan Arabic phrases along the way.
Our approach is perfect for food lovers who want to experience a new culture through its cuisine, as well as language enthusiasts eager to learn Moroccan Arabic in a practical and engaging way. Whether you’re a beginner in the kitchen or an experienced cook looking to expand your culinary horizons, Tagine Talk has something for everyone.
Our Classes
Each of our cooking classes is designed to be as much about learning as it is about enjoying the process. Hajar walks you through the steps of preparing traditional Moroccan meals, sharing her personal tips and insights along the way. You’ll learn about the key ingredients used in Moroccan cooking, from saffron and cumin to preserved lemons and olives, as well as techniques like slow cooking in a tajine pot.
But our classes don’t stop at the food. As you cook, you’ll also be introduced to key phrases and vocabulary in Moroccan Arabic, helping you build a practical understanding of the language in a relaxed and natural setting. We believe that language learning should be accessible and enjoyable, which is why our lessons focus on everyday conversational phrases that you can easily remember and use.
Our Philosophy
At Tagine Talk, we believe that food and language are powerful connectors. By combining these two elements, we create an experience that brings people closer to Morocco’s rich heritage.
